Wild Wandas Explained

Okay, ladies, so I recently got a question from a reader about the Kegel article I wrote last year, about having better orgasms, and giving more pleasure to your man, by doing kegels.  I mentioned various types of Kegel exercises to can do to strengthen your PC muscles, the reader specifically asked about how it is possible to do the last type mentioned, Wild Wandas. (Note, these are my silly made up terms - nothing clinical). Here they are for a recap:

1. Contracting and holding for a count of five or ten, and then releasing - Slow Sallys

2. Quickly contracting and releasing repeatedly, doing sets of five or ten, and working up to higher numbers of reps just as you would with your dumbbell routine - Rapid Rhondas

3. Flexing with sets of up and down movement, and side to side movement. (YES, it is possible). These are more advanced so you may need to start with very few reps. - Wild Wandas

Now, I’m not a sex therapist, I just know what the experts say can be done, and what has worked for me personally. It takes practice and it’s a subtle movement - don’t expect to be feeling the earth move when doing them. (Though the orgasm benefits you experience as a result of doing them, may in fact make the earth move - or at least make you feel like it is.)

And Not Because They Make You Look Hotter.....

Here we go again with my favorite topic: pelvic floor muscles. A study out last year seems to confirm that wearing high heels can strengthen your favorite girl muscles! This may well be the coolest study I’ve ever reported on!

Just when you were ready to bitch and moan about your growing corns, bunions, and overall feet discomfort from wearing high heels, you can now take comfort in knowing they are good for your Gynecological Goddesses -the muscles in your body that help urinary and sexual function!

Leave it to a female doctor from Italy to invent a study that proves that the beautiful Italian shoes we all love so much, have more redeeming value than just making our legs and butt look sexier!!

Italian urologist, Maria Cerruto, seems to have proven her theory, and here is a bit from the full article:

She said her study of 66 women under 50 found that those who held their foot at a 15 degree angle to the ground - the equivalent of a two inch heel - had as good posture as those who wore flat shoes, and crucially showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles.

This suggested the muscles were at an optimum position, which could well improve their strength and ability to contract.

However, this doesn’t excuse you from doing your Kegel’s so bone up on my advice for turning your vagina into a vice grip here.

Because Sometimes Working Out Isn't Enough!

Shorts and bathing suit season are coming, so for most women that means taking inventory of how well the diet and exercise regimen has been going so we can kick it up a notch in April and May, if need be.

But regardless of how in shape we are, and how good our diets are, some of us may still have more cellulite on our back side than we wish we did. You can thank hormones and genetics for that, but there are creams that can help in the reduction of its appearance.

For the longest time I thought these creams were a gimmick, but there actually seems to be a lot of science behind their effectiveness. So, if your workouts haven’t completely gotten rid of the cellulite you dread looking at every morning when you check yourself out in the mirror, check out this list by More Magazine of some of your best cellulite cream options!

Increase Your Chances For Dieting Success!

I’ll admit, I’m not big on formal diets and rigid approaches to diet and exercise, (probably because I have been blessed with genetics that have let me get away with never having to adhere strictly to a diet in order to maintain my weight), but I do recognize the need some of you have for that kind of structure.

For that reason, I’ve got the perfect book recommendation for you! The reason I’m a big fan of this book is because I am a big believer in the mind-body connection, and this book emphasizes the important connection between the two.

The Complete Beck Diet For Life book is a great read for anyone who wants to learn skills to address some of the mental motivations behind your eating habits. You will learn cognitive therapy skills that just may be what has been the missing link in your current approach to weight loss.

This is not the typical weight loss/dieting book, though. Beck’s approach involves efforts that involve a dieter to do some prep work which will help them along the way. This may not be the quick fix approach that many dieters would like, but if you are really wishing to learn skills that will extend beyond just the next few weeks, that you can incorporate into your relationship with food for the long haul, this may just be the book you need!

How To Share Fitness With Your Man

By: Kristen Townsend

Pick up a copy of any fitness or health magazine, and you are sure to be confronted with images of beautiful, vibrant, beaming couples exercising against spectacular, sunny, mountainous backdrops.  You can almost hear their sweet, encouraging speech to one another, “You can do it!  Only 2 miles to go!  I’m so proud of you!”

This ideal assumes several things:

A) Both partners enjoy exercise and make it a priority in their lives; B) The couple enjoys one another’s company and finds encouragement in each other’s “coaching”; and C) The relationship regularly incorporates healthy communication.  I hope you and your partner are able to claim A, B and C at all times throughout your relationship.  If, however, you traverse the same peaks and valleys that we do, keep reading…

Ingraham Delivers Low Blow To McCain

Have you heard about the political squabbling going on between Meghan McCain (John’s daughter), and Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham? This is the verbal battle going on in the media right now, which escalated to Ingraham’s regression into the fourth grade, by slamming McCain about her weight issues.

Here’s the background: Meghan McCain is a political blogger who considers herself Republican like her dad. It started with her blogging criticism about fellow Republican, Ann Coulter’s political style and hard, off putting approach.

This caused Republican, Laura Ingraham, to discredit McCain as a ”Valley Girl gone awry” and “a plus-sized model.” There is nothing wrong with trying to make the point that she thinks that the beautiful, yet heavy, 24 year old McCain, is not knowledgeable about which she speaks about, but what’s up with bringing her weight and looks into the mix? I’ll tell you what’s up: Ingraham must not have gotten the memo that in order to be a Fit After Thirty Hotty you don’t slam other women on their weight. (Perhaps Ingraham isn’t bothered by not getting to be a part of our club. Go figure).

Walking Will Help

Sometimes when I read health studies I wonder if they are worth passing on to the rest of you, because they often seem to fall into the category of: common sense should have made this study unnecessary.

But, since some good folks in the UK, with a lot fancier degrees than the one I have, did a study to prove that walking is a good distraction from eating, who am I to be a study snob? So, I’m going to tell you about it. Especially since it relates to one of my favorite subjects: chocolate.
