Be *f.a.t. In Style

One thing about writers is that we have immense fascination with the meaning behind words. And it is especially exciting for someone who operates a health and fitness blog, to learn that the meaning behind the name of a fitness company that we all know and love, actually stands for one of the same principles that Fit After Thirty was founded on! Fit After Thirty is not only the redefining of fat, but our asterisk graphic logo embodies the idea that the body, mind, and spirit are interconnected, and to be truly fit and healthy, you have to be healthy on all three of those levels!!

ASICS is an acronym for the latin phrase: Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, which means, “a sound mind in a sound body.” And since we at *f.a.t. talk so much about  mind and body, I thought it would be appropriate to suggest two ASICS apparel items that will help you start checking off items on your *f.a.t. Fitness Resolutions list!

Running Shorts

First up,  ASICS Kara Shorts. I know some of you in cold climates may not be wearing shorts outside right now, but it might be worth taking up the treadmill at the gym this winter, just to be seen in public in these babies! They truly are a running short with style. They look great on, which is a nice change of pace, because some of the other brands I’ve worn, make me feel like I’m wearing the running short version of my “FrumpSistas.”

The true style test for me with running shorts, is whether they make me look like I’m wearing a window curtain as a knee-high skirt, and you will all be happy to know, that Martha Stewart will not be making any window treatments out of my Kara Shorts!

Although, I will say, Martha may want to use the ASICS fabric in designing her drapes, because not only does it look and feel amazing, but the material has a 50+ UPF rating which is the maximum Ultraviolet Protection Factor possible. They also have a comfortable internal panty in a breathable, sweat wicking material, for added sweat protection, and a pocket in the back for i.d. cards or a key.

The Sports Bra

Next up, the ARD Bra!  If you want support with ventilation and comfort, with a little sex appeal, this is a great bra to try! You know how some sports bras give you the bread loaf-boob look? The sister look to the uni-brow, known as the uni-boob is a thing of the past with this bra! It has an internal shelf bra with internal mesh that separates the breasts, which offers a more flattering look.

It’s got reflective material on the back and front for safety, stitching that prevents chafing, and ventilation mesh in all the places you need it most!

It is no accident that items 1, 2, and 3 on our Resolutions List, go hand in hand with the ASICS brand!

From My Resolutions List:

1. Give up looking frumpy while working out and buy some cute fitness apparel. Check!

2. Incorporate stress reduction into your life. (Sound mind in a sound body) Check!

3. Train for a 5K or 10K. (Now you have the gear to do it!) Check!
