Suzanne Somers: A Fit After Thirty Inspiration!!

First of all, does it sound too weird to say that I think of her as a prophet delivering the gospel on vitality, rejuvenation, sexiness, and well being? It’s not that weird that I’m on my knees bowing right now, saying the words “I’m not worthy”, is it?

Forget about her stupid Chrissy Snow character on the TV show Three’s Company. It made her a household name in the 70’s, but it is her ongoing crusade to educate people on how to stay healthy, her commitment to turning a negative into a positive, and her brilliance as a business woman that makes her a true phenomenon, and the reason why she is our female f.a.t.ty  (Fit After Thirty Hotty) pick of the week (and century). There are so many reasons I admire this woman, that if I could choose the same person every week without boring you gals, I would choose her every time, because there is that much to say.

Just look at her. She’s 61, people! What woman doesn’t want to look like that at 61? And she’s not like some celebrities who are afraid to tell the rest of us their health and beauty secrets. She’s out in the open about it, and what I like most is that she attributes a great extent of her youthful appearance to healthy, clean living and bio-identical hormone replacement, of which I am a huge proponent! She was spreading the message about organic living before it was popular, with discussions about the effect harsh chemicals and artificial hormones have on our bodies.

She is a breast cancer survivor who has turned the experience into a commitment to educating the rest of us through her books. One of my favorites is Ageless, and think it should be required reading for everyone!

Anyone who writes knows how exhausting and time consuming it is, and unless you are truly passionate about your subject matter, it is a thankless endeavor. She’s so passionate about sharing her health wisdom that she keeps at it even though with every new book she is attacked in the media and barraged with harsh criticism from the mainstream medical establishment and the pharmaceutical industry. A lot of women with her wealth would shut the door to her mansion and say to hell with it, it’s not worth the headache, but she persists out of a desire and commitment to help people, and has just published her seventh book called Breakthrough, Eight Steps to Wellness

Why else would she do it? She does not need the money from book sales. I’m betting that the woman could retire ten times over on interest alone from her Home Shopping Network sales of her other products, yet she continues to put in the effort to write books that take complicated health issues and put them in easy to understand terms for the rest of us.

It’s awe inspiring to watch a woman accomplish off the charts success in every aspect of business she tackles. But guess what? She’s just as successful in her personal life, having been married to the same man for 30 years, with whom she says she still has great passion and sex! Who among us doesn’t want to be doing the bone dance with our soul mate into our sixties? Sign me up for that!

I’ve got to go now. Time to light the candles around my Suzanne Somers shrine.
